The latest update to NVIDIA Project G-Assist is expanding access to more gamers than ever before. Announced at Gamescom 2025, NVIDIA’s experimental on-device AI assistant now runs on all RTX GPUs with 6GB or more VRAM, including laptops, thanks to a new lightweight AI model.
Smarter and more efficient AI assistant
Project G-Assist was built to simplify complex PC configurations by allowing users to run diagnostics, track performance metrics, and adjust settings with voice or text commands. The new update introduces an AI model that uses 40% less VRAM while improving tool-calling intelligence. This efficiency makes it possible to deploy the assistant across a much wider range of RTX-powered PCs.
The update also introduces support for laptop-specific commands, such as NVIDIA BatteryBoost, expected in September. With just a few steps in the NVIDIA app, users can install the update and activate G-Assist with a simple Alt+G shortcut.
Plug-in Hub with mod.io integration
Another highlight is the launch of the G-Assist Plug-In Hub, created in collaboration with mod.io. This hub enables gamers to discover, download, and install plug-ins directly through natural language commands.
During the G-Assist Hackathon, community developers built creative plug-ins like:
- Omniplay – integrates in-game research and note-taking
- Launchpad – custom app launcher for productivity
- Flux NIM Microservice – generate AI images directly in G-Assist
These examples show how the platform is quickly evolving into a hub for customization.

RTX Remix: bringing new life to classics
Alongside NVIDIA Project G-Assist, NVIDIA announced new RTX Remix features. A path-traced particle system arriving in September will add realistic physics, shadows, and reflections to classic PC games.
The RTX Remix modding community has already delivered over 100 mods across 350 active projects, revitalizing titles like Half-Life 2, Portal 2, and Deus Ex. At Gamescom, NVIDIA also revealed winners of the RTX Remix Mod Contest, with Painkiller RTX Remix taking multiple top prizes.
By combining generative AI with RTX Remix, modders are enhancing textures, rebuilding assets, and reimagining environments with unprecedented detail.
NVIDIA’s vision for AI-powered gaming
The NVIDIA Project G-Assist update demonstrates how AI can simplify performance tuning, expand customization, and even shape the future of modding. By making the assistant lighter and extending support to more RTX GPUs, NVIDIA is ensuring a wider audience benefits from its growing AI ecosystem.
With continued updates, plug-in support, and integration with RTX Remix, Project G-Assist is set to become a central part of NVIDIA’s strategy to merge AI innovation and gaming experiences.
