NVIDIA RTX 5050 Launches as $250 Entry-Level Blackwell GPU

The NVIDIA RTX 5050 is finally here, offering a modern, budget-friendly GPU built on the new Blackwell architecture. At just $250, it’s the most affordable next-gen card from NVIDIA—and a long-awaited replacement for the RTX 3050.

Designed for smooth 1080p gaming, the RTX 5050 includes major upgrades. It supports DLSS Frame Generation, DLSS 4’s Multi Frame Generation, and improved AI-driven upscaling. DLSS now uses Transformer-based models instead of older convolutional neural networks, resulting in better image quality. Even in games running over 60 FPS, DLSS Quality or DLAA offer superior visuals to traditional TAA.

The RTX 5050 introduces the GB207, the smallest Blackwell-based GPU. Built on the same NVIDIA 4N process as the RTX 40 series, it includes 20 streaming multiprocessors (SMs). That equals 2,560 CUDA cores, 80 Tensor cores, 20 RT cores, 80 TMUs, and 32 ROPs.

Blackwell architecture also brings Neural Rendering, which combines generative AI with rasterization and ray tracing. The card’s AI Management Processor (AMP) runs rendering and AI tasks side by side. New 4th-gen RT cores support Mega Geometry, boosting ray-traced object detail and lighting realism.

The card comes with 8GB of 20Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus, delivering 320 GB/s of bandwidth. While it lacks GDDR6X, it still benefits from PCIe 5.0 x8 connectivity for fast data throughput.

Power efficiency is a strong point. With a TGP of only 130W, the RTX 5050 needs just one 8-pin PCIe connector—even for factory-overclocked models. The Gigabyte RTX 5050 Gaming OC, for example, boosts clock speed to 2632 MHz and sells for $275, slightly above MSRP.

The RTX 5050 doesn’t aim to beat high-end cards but punches above its weight in features. It brings DLSS 4, advanced ray tracing, and Neural Rendering to budget gamers—at a lower price than most consoles.

If you’re looking to transform a basic PC into a capable gaming system, the NVIDIA RTX 5050 delivers big on value, features, and efficiency. For entry-level builders and 1080p gamers, this card is a game-changer.
