Nvidia CEO on Huawei: Jensen Huang highlighted Huawei’s strong position in the AI semiconductor race. Speaking at a press conference on April 30, Huang discussed Nvidia’s presence in China, new U.S. regulations, and the competition with Huawei.

Huang acknowledged that Huawei is a serious competitor for Nvidia in the AI space. He named Huawei as one of the strongest rivals in producing top AI semiconductors. Besides Huawei, Huang mentioned Intel and new semiconductor startups as growing challenges for Nvidia’s expansion in China’s AI market.

“Huawei, Intel, and a growing number of semiconductor startups pose a serious challenge to Nvidia’s dominance in the AI accelerator market,” Huang said. “Huawei is one of Nvidia’s very strong competitors in the race to produce the best AI chips.”

Despite U.S. sanctions, Huawei continues to make significant progress in AI. Huang stated that while China is slightly behind in the tech race, the gap is closing, thanks to Huawei’s improvements in its chips.

This is not the first time Nvidia has recognized Huawei’s growth in AI. The company has acknowledged that despite U.S. sanctions, Huawei keeps finding new ways to innovate.

Nvidia also expressed concern over U.S. chip restrictions. Huang warned that these measures not only encourage innovation at Huawei but also shift the Chinese AI market toward other producers, like those creating Ascend chips.

The competition is intensifying. Nvidia faces a growing challenge from Huawei and other players in the AI semiconductor market. The race to lead in AI chip production is far from over, and Huawei continues to make impressive strides.
