NVIDIA materials discovery is transforming scientific research as the company introduces accelerated pipelines, AI microservices and edge computing platforms that reshape how materials are analyzed, modeled and developed. At the SC25 conference in St. Louis, NVIDIA unveiled new capabilities that enhance material science workflows at scale. These advancements support research into liquid cooling fluids, OLED materials, catalysts, battery components and next-generation display technologies. They also provide breakthroughs for scientists working in aerospace, energy production, semiconductors and advanced manufacturing. Because new technologies require highly optimized materials, faster computational tools are becoming essential for global innovation.
The latest developments include NVIDIA Holoscan for real-time nano-imaging and NVIDIA ALCHEMI for accelerated chemistry and molecular simulation. Together, they give laboratories and research institutions the ability to process massive datasets, run high-throughput molecular searches and conduct simulations that previously took days or weeks. With these systems, researchers can analyze materials under 10-nanometer resolution and screen millions of chemical candidates more efficiently than ever before.

Brookhaven Lab Boosts Nano-Imaging With NVIDIA Holoscan

Brookhaven National Laboratory is using NVIDIA Holoscan to accelerate nanoscale imaging at the National Synchrotron Light Source II. The facility generates vast volumes of data as it captures material structures at extremely high resolutions. Traditionally, researchers had to wait for scans to finish before reviewing results.
With Holoscan, real-time processing now gives scientists immediate feedback. Lead beamline scientist Hanfei Yan said the system allows researchers to identify regions of interest during scanning, improving decision-making and reducing delays. The accelerated pipeline also reduces operating costs by allowing more experiments to run on expensive imaging instruments.
Data engineering leader Daniel Allan noted that Holoscan enables AI-assisted operation, including automated imaging tasks and autonomous experiment control. This marks a major step toward merging AI with scientific workflows to improve productivity and accelerate research outcomes.

ENEOS Uses ALCHEMI to Advance Cooling and Catalyst Research

Japanese energy company ENEOS is using NVIDIA ALCHEMI NIM microservices to evaluate new cooling liquids for immersion-cooled data centers and identify catalysts for hydrogen-related energy processes. ALCHEMI accelerates both conformer search and molecular dynamics, enabling millions of molecular screenings within weeks instead of months.
ENEOS screened more than 10 million liquid cooling candidates and more than 100 million oxygen evolution reaction candidates. This scale was impossible with previous computational methods. General manager Takeshi Ibuka noted that ALCHEMI allowed the team to sample larger chemical spaces while generating realistic results. Because calculations complete faster, researchers can dedicate more time to exploring insights instead of waiting for simulations to finish.

UDC Accelerates OLED Material Innovation With NVIDIA ALCHEMI

Universal Display Corporation, a major innovator in OLED materials, is using NVIDIA ALCHEMI to speed the discovery of next-generation organic compounds. OLED design requires exploring a vast chemical space with more than 10¹⁰⁰ possible molecules. Traditional CPU-based systems could examine only a limited number.
With ALCHEMI’s AI-accelerated conformer search, UDC can evaluate billions of molecules up to 10,000× faster than conventional methods. Executive vice president Julie Brown said GPU acceleration has transformed the scale of discovery. Molecular dynamics simulations that used to take days now complete in seconds when distributed across multiple NVIDIA GPUs.
These speedups help identify materials for blue phosphorescent OLEDs and other next-generation display components. Researchers gain more creative freedom, receive rapid feedback and accelerate the path to commercialization, leading to more energy-efficient and sustainable display technologies.

NVIDIA ALCHEMI Drives the Future of Materials Research

NVIDIA ALCHEMI is part of more than 150 CUDA-X libraries accelerating scientific and engineering breakthroughs. Its toolkits help scientists push boundaries in chemistry, materials science and energy research. As adoption grows, the pace of innovation in cooling systems, catalysts, batteries and digital displays is expected to increase.
Through these advancements, NVIDIA materials discovery reshapes how researchers work. Faster imaging, broader simulations and AI-driven insights enable scientists to explore materials at unprecedented speed. This marks a new era in computational research, where accelerated computing unlocks the next wave of global scientific progress.
